Also known as Chuchotage
Whispered interpreting is normally used for meetings of short duration and only for one or two persons. The interpreter sits close to the foreign delegate and simultaneously whispers the translation into their ear. This method can save time and keep costs low. It is not recommended for groups or when several interpreters translate different languages at the same time in the same room.
In a business environment, whispered interpreting is especially useful for
- site visits or plant tours
- negotiations or meetings
- conferences and trade exhibitions
- visits from international delegations
